Vibes of an anthology about claw machines

a mood board

Morning darklings,

We’re halfway through Claw Machine: The Anthology’s Kickstarter! So, I thought I’d share the mood board for the book. I’m so proud of this damned thing.

It’s not even in my hands yet, and it feels huge and heavy.

I’m a believer in large projects. I think they are so much fun. Often, I’ll take on one or two a year—from a collection of short stories with matching miniatures to a new newsletter chock full of writing advice. But they are either solo or with other people sharing the work.

In Claw Machine, things have been different. The authors delivered the stories. I edited them. They did whatever I asked of them (admittedly not much; I chose well). Next, I put them into a cohesive order, made miniatures to match each story, designed art for the promo of the Kickstarter, and set up the events and launch party. Now, I making the cover and promo for the events. Oh, and trying to write and create and sleep and do laundry and take lots of rest because we just moved and my disabled body needs to Not Do for a little while.

So, I’m a bit tired.

That being said, I absolutely had time to grab a few images for the mood board. You know I did. ❤️

These are not representative of the individual stories, so much as the experience of reading the collection.

questions of the week

  1. What’s your favorite arcade game?

  2. Have you ever won anything from a claw machine?

  3. If you could choose one plushie to win right now, what would it be?

and one for the mood of my week

(the rest of March, I guess). While we’re here, can I add April and May?

my answers of the week

  1. Skee-Ball, for sure

  2. A few things. My favorite is from the most recent of visits. I won a duck from an everyone-wins-a-duck claw machine.

  3. A dino nugget pillow or a frosted animal cookie pillow. I saw them online five minutes ago, so they are pretty fresh in my mind, to be fair. Still, how sweet would that be? I mean, so good.

Until next time.
